چکیده

The complete and annotated nucleotide sequence of a 54,036-bp plasmid harboring a blaKPC-2 gene that is clonally present in Citrobacter isolates from different species is presented. The plasmid belongs to incompatibility group N (IncN) and harbors the class A carbapenemase KPC-2 in a unique genetic environment.

Detection of the Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase type 2 Carbapenem-hydrolyzing enzyme in clinical isolates of Citrobacter freundii and K. oxytoca carrying a common plasmid.

The Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) was detected in carbapenem-resistant isolates of Citrobacter freundii and Klebsiella oxytoca recovered from different patients in a Michigan hospital. Restriction analysis and hybridization with a KPC-specific probe showed the bla(KPC-2) genes of these two genera of the family Enterobacteriaceae are carried on a common plasmid.

Complete sequence of the IncT-type plasmid pT-OXA-181 carrying the blaOXA-181 carbapenemase gene from Citrobacter freundii.

The gene encoding the carbapenemase OXA-181 (an OXA-48 variant) was identified from a Citrobacter freundii isolate coproducing NDM-1. The whole sequence of plasmid pT-OXA-181 bearing the blaOXA-181 gene was determined and revealed a 84-kb mobilizable but non-self-conjugative IncT-type plasmid. It totally differs from the 7.6-kb ColE-type and blaOXA-181-bearing plasmid recently identified in a K...

Coexistence of a novel KPC-2-encoding MDR plasmid and an NDM-1-encoding pNDM-HN380-like plasmid in a clinical isolate of Citrobacter freundii.

OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to characterize the molecular mechanism of coproduction of KPC-2 and NDM-1 in Citrobacter freundii. METHODS C. freundii strain 112298 was isolated from a human case of septic shock in a Chinese teaching hospital. The major carbapenemase and ESBL genes were detected by PCR. The MIC values were determined by using VITEK 2 and antimicrobial susceptibili...

Characterization and Nucleotide Sequence of a Klebsiella oxytoca Cryptic Plasmid Encoding a CMY-Type b-Lactamase: Confirmation that the Plasmid-Mediated Cephamycinase Originated from the Citrobacter freundii AmpC b-Lactamase

Plasmid pTKH11, originally obtained by electroporation of a Klebsiella oxytoca plasmid preparation into Escherichia coli XAC, expressed a high level of an AmpC-like b-lactamase. The enzyme, designated CMY-5, conferred resistance to extended-spectrum b-lactams in E. coli; nevertheless, the phenotype was cryptic in the K. oxytoca donor. Determination of the complete nucleotide sequence of pTKH11 ...

Nucleotide sequence of a plasmid-mediated cephalosporinase gene (blaLAT-1) found in Klebsiella pneumoniae.

The nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding a novel cephalosporinase (LAT-1), carried by a non-self-transferable plasmid from Klebsiella pneumoniae, has been determined. It was found that the sequence shares a high degree of homology with the Citrobacter freundii OS60 ampC structural gene.
